Howmet Structure Systems has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Technician located at our Canton facility. This position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance operation and preventative maintenance of manufacturing equipment within the plant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities of a Maintenance Technician.
- Conduct all preventive, predictive and general maintenance on machine tools and equipment, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems and verify functionality before returning to production.
- Trouble shoot, repair, inspect, and adjust equipment and machinery within the facility.
- Review blueprints and manufacturing manuals to determine the preventative maintenance schedules and required maintenance. As well as develop, utilize, and train others on job specific preventative and predictive maintenance programs. Provide support and offer guidance to cross-functional team members
- Oversee outsourced maintenance projects, which include meeting with contractors and completing job safety procedures
- Adhere to all standard operating procedures and ensure compliance with all safety and quality processes.
- Strong learning aptitude required, ability to learn quickly and work in a team-oriented environment
- Take ownership of equipment and areas including all housekeeping activities. Drive 5S standards
- Must be flexible with work schedule and be available for overtime and weekends.
- Work on tasks outside of the job description as directed by Management for training, emergency relief purposes, production needs or continuous improvements.
- General working knowledge with the wiliness to continue and train on the following skills: welding, machining, mechanical/millwright, MIG and TIG weld, Pneumatic and Hydraulic repair, machining skills and electrical circuit knowledge
- High School Equivalent or GED and three years of relevant maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment or a relevant two-year technical degree with one year of related experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints.
- Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
- Work Environment: The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in wet and/or humid conditions with fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is loud and the employee will be required to wear hearing protection and other required PPE.
